Steve & Angie’s Story
12 November 2024
Steve and Angie Campbell, senior pastors of The C3 Church in Cambridge, UK, embody a passion for leadership, discipleship, and the transformative power of the local church. As leaders of a thriving multisite church that serves communities in Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester, and beyond, the Campbells are dedicated to building a legacy of faith and leadership that inspires others to live Christ-centered, purpose-driven lives.
Family and Faith: A Foundation for Leadership
Steve and Angie’s journey is deeply rooted in their faith and family. Married for decades, they are parents to three adult children—Joshua, Rebekah, and Megan—and proud grandparents to three grandchildren, aged six, three, and just two months. Their family serves as a constant source of inspiration, grounding their mission to uplift others through servant-hearted leadership.
A Life-Changing Encounter with the GLS
The Campbells first attended the Global Leadership Summit (GLS) in 2010 in Bracknell, England. Captivated by the summit’s ability to draw insights from thought leaders across diverse sectors, they quickly recognized its potential to transform their leadership and their ministry. A year later, they attended the GLS in Chicago, solidifying their commitment to the event’s vision: Leaders can get better.
At the time, The C3 Church had just purchased land for a new church building in Cambridge. Inspired by the GLS, Steve and Angie resolved to host the summit in their new facility. By 2016, their dream became a reality, with The C3 Church hosting its first GLS. Since then, they’ve attended 15 GLS events in the UK and five in the USA, continually drawing inspiration to enhance their leadership and empower their team.
Leadership Insights That Transformed Their Ministry
The Campbells credit GLS speakers like Patrick Lencioni and Craig Groeschel for shaping their leadership philosophy. Lencioni’s framework of “hungry, humble, and smart” has become a cornerstone of their hiring and team-building process. “Interviewing people is both an art and a science,” Steve notes. “We use those three traits—hungry, humble, smart—to ensure we’re bringing the right people into our team.”
For Angie, Craig Groeschel’s message about the power of one significant relationship profoundly impacted her perspective. Reflecting on this, Steve shares a pivotal moment: “After hearing Craig’s talk, we had a visiting trainer come to our staff team. His invitation to be trained resonated deeply, and I immediately said yes. That one relationship has transformed our church culture, strengthened our team, and enhanced the way we develop leaders.”
A Vision for Long-Term Impact
As the National Directors of Global Leadership Network UK and Ireland, the Campbells are passionate advocates for the GLS’s mission to inspire and equip leaders for long-term impact. “We’re absolutely convinced that when a leader gets better, everyone wins,” Steve says. “GLS helps leaders to build something that lasts—something that can endure for generations.”
Their favorite scriptures encapsulate their vision for leadership. Angie finds solace in Psalm 139:13-14, reflecting on God’s intentional design of each individual, while Steve draws strength from 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
A Prayer for the GLS Family
The Campbells’ prayer for leaders in the GLS family reflects their desire for Christ-centered leadership to transform communities: “We pray that through GLS, many leaders will become better equipped, Christ-centered, and cause-driven leaders who lift others up to see our world transformed for good.”
Building a Legacy That Lasts
Through their work with The C3 Church and the Global Leadership Network, Steve and Angie Campbell are dedicated to empowering leaders to create lasting change. Their story is a powerful reminder that leadership is not about personal ambition but about building a legacy of faith, service, and transformation for generations to come.
