Wunmi’s Story

Wunmi’s Story: Raising Women Leaders in Nigeria

From the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, Omowunmi (Wunmi) Fahuwa is raising a generation of women to discover their potential and lead with purpose. As a seasoned professional with a background in banking, fashion design, and education, Wunmi blends practical expertise with a deep passion for empowering women. Her leadership story—and the impact she’s making through the Global Leadership Summit (GLS) and the Women Leaders Network—is proof of what happens when personal transformation fuels community-wide change.

A GLS Legacy Rooted in Growth

Wunmi has attended more than 20 GLS events since her first experience in Nigeria in September 2007. She’s also had the opportunity to attend GLS twice in Chicago, further deepening her exposure to global leadership insights. But it was the launch of the Women Leaders Network that marked a pivotal moment in her leadership journey.

“The initiative has truly provided me with access to world-class content that has been a significant life-changing tool,”Wunmi shares. “It’s not only impacted me, but the women I lead in Nigeria through the Women Leaders Network cohort.”

Empowering Women to Impact Communities

As the Nigeria Cohort Leader for the Women Leaders Network, Wunmi has helped women from across sectors—business, ministry, and the marketplace—unlock their gifts and grow in leadership confidence. Many of the women she mentors came in unsure of their potential. Now, they’re testifying to how GLS content and the Women Leaders Network have shaped their businesses, deepened their ministry work, and expanded their influence.

“So many women in Nigeria have potential, but they don’t know they have it,” Wunmi explains. “They need resources and support that help them develop those skills and truly make an impact—in their homes, their churches, their businesses, and their communities.”

Leadership for the Next Generation

Wunmi’s passion for leadership development extends especially to young ladies. She believes that when women grow in their capacity, the ripple effect reaches far beyond their personal lives—it shapes families, reshapes communities, and transforms nations. Through mentorship, coaching, and the GLS platform, she is lighting the path for the next generation of women to lead boldly and faithfully.

A Life Aligned with Purpose

Wunmi is happily married to Felix Fahuwa, GLS Regional Producer for West and Central Africa. Together, they’ve built not only a family but a shared mission: to advance leadership in Africa through GLS. They are proud parents of a wonderful daughter who’s already seeing leadership modeled in real time.

Her favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5–6, guides her daily: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…” It’s this deep faith that grounds her calling and fuels her work.

An Invitation to Lead With Courage

Wunmi’s message is clear: if you’re a woman looking to grow in your leadership capacity, you’re not alone. The Global Leadership Summit and Women Leaders Network offer tools, content, and community to help you thrive.

Watch Wunmi’s story and see how GLS became the catalyst for leadership transformation—not just in her own life, but for women across Nigeria.
