Isaiah’s Story

Changing Police and Government in Burundi

Leadership that Brings Hope to a Nation: Isaiah’s GLS Story
In the heart of East Africa, a powerful story of leadership and hope is unfolding in Burundi. For years, the country has faced political instability, poverty, and deep social challenges—but amidst this, a movement of transformation is emerging through the Global Leadership Summit (GLS).
At the forefront of this movement is Nshimirimana Isaiah, the Country Leader for GLS Burundi, whose passion for leadership and faith is helping to restore hope across communities, churches, and even the government.

From a Dream to a Calling
Isaiah’s leadership journey began long before the Summit came to Burundi.
“Since I was young, I was eager to be a good leader,” he shares. “I attended some trainings, but GLS added real value to help me become the leader I always wanted to be.” Introduced to GLS in 2016 by his former Bible school teacher, Isaiah immediately recognized it as an answer to prayer—a vision that could help change not just individuals but an entire nation.

Transforming Leadership Across Sectors
Under Isaiah’s guidance, GLS Burundi has grown to include leaders from government, the army, and the police—sectors that play a critical role in shaping the country’s future. “When the police leaders saw the GLS,” Isaiah explains, “they realized this is what we were missing—what our nation needs.”
The impact was immediate. Officers began applying GLS principles in their work, transforming how they interacted with communities. The change became so visible that people across Burundi began to take notice.
“I saw people on Facebook writing about how the police were behaving differently,” Isaiah recalls. “They said, ‘This is because of the training.’”

Restoring Hope Through Leadership
Burundi, once defined by conflict and hardship, is now seeing the fruits of leadership development ripple through society. As a result of ongoing GLS training, entire government departments are now participating in leadership development, including the police force.
“Burundi was a country that faced many challenges,” says Isaiah. “But because of GLS, people now have hope. The government is being trained. The police are being trained. That means there is hope for Burundi.”
For Isaiah, leadership is not just about authority—it’s about transformation.
“Leadership is everything,” he says. “Nothing moves without leadership. Families, churches, even nations suffer when leadership is lacking. But when leaders grow, everything changes.”

Faith, Vision, and a Nation’s Future
Beyond his national role, Isaiah remains grounded in his faith. As an evangelist, husband, and father of four, he is deeply committed to building leaders who combine integrity, service, and spiritual strength.
His life’s mission is simple yet powerful: to disciple others, strengthen the church, and empower leaders who can carry hope into every corner of Burundi.
