Faith, Family, and Business: How Ivan and Mirjana Topčić Built a Legacy of Leadership

For Ivan and Mirjana Topčić from Zagreb, Croatia, leadership has always been about much more than business success. As founders of a family-owned company that began in their garage 30 years ago, they have grown their business to employ 50 people while staying true to their Christian values, their family-centered approach, and their commitment to giving back to their community.

The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) has been part of their journey since its earliest days in Croatia, shaping the way they lead, serve, and care for those around them.

From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Business

Starting from their family home and garage three decades ago, Ivan and Mirjana built a company specializing in the trading of guides and cables. Over the years, their success has grown steadily—but they’ve never lost sight of what truly matters: their employees and their families.

“To be a Christian in business means a responsibility towards work, towards other people around you,” Ivan explains. “It means taking care of the employees, their families, their children, everything that happens in their lives.”

This philosophy led them to provide support for employees’ families from the very beginning. They offer scholarships for children from preschool through college, ensuring education and stability for generations of families connected to their business.

How GLS Changed Their Leadership

Ivan and Mirjana have attended every Global Leadership Summit in Croatia since the first one in 2012—thirteen in total. Introduced to GLS by Dražen Glavaš, who brought the Summit to Croatia, they quickly saw its value and became early sponsors to help the event grow.

“GLS gave us the courage to move forward,” says Mirjana. “The talks by leaders like Patrick Lencioni and Jim Collins opened our eyes to new ways of leading with integrity and faith.”

Through GLS, they discovered that leadership rooted in faith can transform not only businesses but also families and communities.

For Ivan and Mirjana, faith and business are not separate parts of life—they are intertwined.

“To be a Christian in business and to be a Christian in life is the same for us,” they explain.

As they look back over 30 years, they credit God’s guidance and blessings for the growth of their business, the well-being of their employees, and the strong family legacy they’ve built.
